Green Smoothie

2017 I’ve had a tough go with the holidays and traveling to Guam eating everything I could get my hands on!  I have a sweet tooth and it’s difficult to say no if it’s laid out in front of me.  This year I’m gradually getting back eating better and thought I would try to find something to my liking as far as green smoothies go. The last time I was on a green smoothie fix I had blood in my urine and discovered I had possibility of kidney stones.  Probably due to the fact of all the spinach I put in a green smoothie.  The new recipe I’m using to replace the spinach is baby kale.  I also add overripe banana, frozen pineapple, frozen blueberries, flax seed and dates the combination is appetizing more flavorful.  I found out that Kale can also cause some formation of kidney stones at this point I switched over to Power Greens a combination of spinach, kale, chard and other leafy greens.  Maybe in moderation I will be fine the recipe below I make every morning and to bring to work for part of my lunch.  The recipe below is simple as in “Keep it Simple Stupid!”  I highly recommend investing in a Vitamix very expensive blender but well worth the price!

3C Baby Kale – cruciferous veggie, vitamin K, A, C, carotenoids, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory effects, although contains oxlates which associated with kidney stones and some gallstones.

1EA Banana – Fiber, Carbohydrates, B6, manganese, Vitamin C, Potassium, Magnesium.

1/2C Frozen Blueberries – Antioxidant, Low Glycemic, Fiber, Lutein, Vitamin K, C, Manganese

1/2C Frozen Pineapple – Vitamin C, Manganese, Fiber.

3-4 Dates – Iron, Fiber, Minerals.

1T Flax Seed – Omega 3, Maganese, Fiber, B1, Protein.

1/2C Almond Milk – Vitamin E, Riboflavin, Protein

1C Water

1C Ice
